In Bhutan baby’s birth is always celebrated. Regardless of girl or boy, people considered them to be future progressors and usually don’t discriminate in genders. After the child’s birth guests and other people are not allowed to enter the baby’s room for 3 to 4 days as Bhutanese believe that house gets polluted. Purification ceremony is done to clean the house only after 3rd day guests and other visitors are allowed to visit and meet child and mother to give gifts which includes clothes, money and other child related products.
To get name for the child, couple visit sacred temple and usually child is blessed and given name by the high priest of the temple. A horoscope is seen predicting the future of the baby by drawing out with the help of the time and date of birth of the baby, which is based on the lunar calendar as Bhutanese follows the lunar calendar.
